Sammi
« on: February 05, 2005, 05:52:08 PM »

Sammi is almost 13 yrs old now, she was rescued from DC; someone dumped her and her brother, but he disappeared (hopefully someone took him), so dan brought her home. we had recently lost a dog, so we brought the number back to five. that was 12 1/2 yrs ago.

She was a fearful aggressive pup, but with a LOT of work, she became about the best dog ever! She was so very smart, I believe she would have been an excellent search and rescue dog, had she been been trained from early on. Now, she'll be 13 in March, and has lost some of the brain power she once had. Her eyesight isn't terrific, her hearing is going (she hears, but can't tell direction), but she still has heart :-)

Wow Donna! Does Sammi have some greyhound in him? I'm asking because of the long muzzle.

I believe SHE is a dobie/hound mix; when we 1st got her (5-6 months old), she looked more dobie, (dan said the brother that was with her looked full dobie), and because of several other things, ie:she points, see sees well, her reaction to anesthesia, all point at some kind of a sight hound. (which means a hound that actually sees well, uses eyes instead of sound and smell).

Donna, I'm in love!  guitar Sammi reminds me of my "Cosmo", but a little smaller. Cosmo was a Lab/Shepherd and was around 145 lbs. Wish I had a pick  Sad
Smmi looks part shepherd maybe some dobbie or greyhound?

Great pics! {{Hugz}} Rox

Her! My apologies to Sammi. Yah Dobie could be the reason for the long muzzle. I never knew that about "site"dogs. I just always assumed all dogs had poor sight.

hi cat :-)
Well, yes, the dogs and cats pretty much rule the roost <G> When we buy furniture, the sales people probably think we're nuts. "their toenails will punture leather" or "that material will be too hard to get the fur off of" LOL! WE're considering new seating for the living room, and thinking of separate recliners, and my response was, " the dogs will have a fit if they can't sit next to us, we better get another recliner loveseat or couch"

yes, they have us very well trained.... donna
