Donna, nice job on the ponds. The white koi in pic 5 I believe, is really prettty...as they all are, but that one stood out

If you mean the pc with my Sammi in it, that is Lucy, the red head 
Bonnie is the all white one, she has l o n g fins and tail. Cecil is the very colorful one (remember Beanie and Cecil - the sea sick sea serpent - cartoon)
Roy is mostly white with speckles of dark blue/black all over.
When I got these fish, they were 5 - 6", and cecil and roy looked exactly alike. it shows how much their coloring can change as they grow. donna

Hi Donna,
Beautiful fish. I do have a question though. Is your pond heated? I mean doesn't it freeze over during the winter? And if so what happens to the koi?

I like Roy!!! They are all very pretty ponds. And I love the picture on pond 5. My friend down the street has mostly orange and gold ones but some of her are well over a foot long. We don't have to cover the ponds here but the fish all hibernate. There is also a big one outside a sushi bar on Greenville.

During the winter the water doesn't freeze completely, the top may, but I keep a hole open to let out the carbon dioxide they release. The fish don't hibernate, but the metabolism slows way down, and they mostly float around the bottom of the pond. On nice sunny days they will come up to the top and warm themselves a bit.
It is just so relaxing to sit out there when it's warm, and feed them, and watch them swim around while listening to the waterfall. We enjoy the heck out of :-)
