Preview Problem
« on: June 04, 2004, 07:52:52 AM »

Since I'm new to anything but the 2.6 ug, I don't know whether this is a Ziteman glitch or the problem is 2.8.2.

When previewing an edited page, the window shows the default page settings.

Different text sizes seem to be recognised, but graphics, if any, don't appear, text and link colours are all default, as is the page's bgcolour whether I'm using a background image or just a colour.

So again; Ziteman or 2.8.2? I can't tell, because I had no trouble with Siteman on 2.6.

Watcha thimk, Bert? unsure

Hi Sandy,
Sorry it took so long to get to this. Frankly I'm not sure. We are on 2.8.1 and there is no difference. One thing to remember though if you use relative url's for your images they will not show in preview. Not much we can do about that. If you would like I can reinstall Ziteman for you and see if that fixes it.

It's not a big deal Bert. Maybe it's just the 2.8.2 upgrade. It's done a few other wonky things to css and such so I'm not all that worried; I'm just finding new workarounds.

Sandy,
Rox had something weird happen to her whilst on the editor. Her page colors got all wonky. It didn't last for very long. It hasn't happened to me, and seeing that the Ziteman code hasn't been changed since the new version was installed in everyone's accounts, I am thinking it's a Webtv thing. There has been other reports of weirdness in th Wow ng. If anyone else is having an error like this let me know.

I realize this is an old posting and you may very well have figured something out by now, but just in case...

Had this same problme at Arbor - if using relative urls, images wouldn't show in preview while editing. The simple fix is to include a BASE HREF in the head of the document, like this:

Code:
<head><BASE HREF="http://www.colliope.com/bear/index.html"><title>Purple Polar Bear</title></head>

(The BASE HREF is the full url of the document. )

I have just finished copying all my stuff to Zbox, and it works here, to.  On all the pages where I remembered to include the BASE HREF, the preview is fine.
