Account Will (Wish)
« on: February 15, 2005, 06:04:49 AM »

We talked about this earlier so I will post it here:

In the event something should happen to me, I would like to elect someone to take over my accounts at my webhosts to keep what 'might' be important work. Of course all I would have to do is handover my 'user name' and 'password' as long as my 'electee' was willing to cover my account costs and no one would know the difference.. right?

If something sudden should happen, I guess if I let someone (electee) know ahead of time i.e. a document with all my info, this takeover shouldn't be a problem. This is food for thought though for those who have spent hours in the halls of 'Creation' and would like to see their efforts continue. I know Bert said he would look into the idea of a File Manager Will of sorts.

See, I try to cover all the bases.. Lets work through this slowly folks and see what happens.

Hi Spiral,
My thinking on this is that all I would really need would be an email from you specifying the person you would like to take over your account in that event. I would then contact the person to verify their willingness to do so. This is an excellent idea and is something we all need to think about unfortunately. Lately we have seen several examples of beloved Webtv sites possibly vanishing due to the owners demise.
