Index Manager - control panel

The index manager will allow you to turn indexes on or off for a directory. If indexes are off, people will not be able to see what files are in a directory that lacks an index file.

Can I get that interpited?  huh

"default system setting" or "no index" are the two main choices when selecting a directory.

If I choose the "no index" option, does that stop the index.html files from being automatically generated everty time I make a new directory? Is "no index" the same option as "off"?

I need to set things so that I can use my own index.html page in directories I want to "protect", and to be able to leave directories that have no index.html file in them open, and NOT have index.html pages generated automatically with each new directory.

Hi Col,
It will have no effect on directories that have an index.html file. It will only effect directories without one. Oh and another thing. Whenever you create a new directory using Ziteman, it will automatically create a new blank index.html file.

So there's no way to turn that off, then?
What if I  create the directory on my pc and then FTP in? Will that prevent the auto-index files from being created?

Col,
As stated in my post whenever you create a new directory in Ziteman it will create a index.html file in each directory you create. Of course you can always delete them if that is your preference. If you create the directories using your FTP client on your PC, there will be NO index.html file created. Only in Ziteman. And sorry no, we can't turn that feature off in Ziteman.

Excellent. Thankyou.
I don't mind the auto index pagess on most of my things as they are easy to delete if I don't want them, but I've been working on getting the files for my forum and gallery ready to move and didn't want the extra index pages added to all those directories.
