How Safe is ZboX?
« on: April 21, 2005, 12:13:20 PM »

Well the quick answer to that is "as safe as we can possibly be." And yah I know that isn't good enough. So here it all is in a nutshell:

Your files are safe. ZboX has NEVER lost a file. Not one. In September of 2003 our main hard drive died. (it happens) We recovered from the backups and didn't lose a single file. We do daily, weekly, and monthly backups on the spare hard drives on the server itself. Also, once per week, we do an offsite backup, where all files are sent to a totally different backup server in a totally different data center. PC users can backup their files with one click using Cpanel's backup feature. Webtv users can use the same backup feature to ftp a backup to a different server that supports ftp using a server to server transfer. Webtv and PC users can also split their accounts up between our two servers. Our two servers are in totally different datacenters, in different parts of the country. We also offer the option of burning all of your files to a cd and mailing you the cd. There is a minimal charge for the cd. Can we guarantee that we will never ever lose a file? No. And nobody else can either. But we do everything we possibly can to try to avoid it.

Both servers are monitored 24/7 by live professional Systems Administrators. Both hardware and software issues will be handled by them. I am also notified if the servers have issues. Most times the Sysadmins are on it before I get my notification. All ports and processes are monitored constantly and various security features have been implemented to make the servers secure. Are the servers 100% safe from hacking? Of course not. No server is. But we do everything we can do.

~;-)
