Heya Bert,
I posted this in response to the "MySql Help" thread I had already started but it did not show up so I am posting it again as a new thread.
I finally have gotten back to working on this. I followed all the instructions you posted, finished all the steps, and edited the config.php file to reflect the new names/password for the database. But when I went to
http://colliope.zboxhosting.com/phpBB2/index.php
to try it out I got this message:
phpBB : Critical Error
Could not connect to the database
Help!! I don't know where to start looking for what might be the problem. I did notice that in the config.php file, along with the db names, there is also this:
$table_prefix = 'phpbb_';
Do I need to change that prefix to something else also?

That's a thread re the same problem I am having. One response says that you are supposed to go to
www.yourhost.com/install/install/php instead of to
www.yourhost.com/install/phpBB2/index.php
Now, I remember going thru that step when I first set it up at 1 & 1, however, all the instrctions I had said that it was very important to delete the install file afterwards. So I of course deleted it, which means if i go to that adress i get a "page not found". Could this be the problem? I thought in moving the database and files & everything, it was moving it already setup/installed, so I could just go to the index page and everything would be there working if you know what i mean.

I'm reading thru the phpbb help forum, and another possibility is that the config.php file is not pointing to the correct place because of URLs that redirect/resolve to another. I.E., "www.colliope.zboxhosting.com" compared to "www.colliope.com". I remember reading about this when setting up my forum originally and it was one of my reasons for concerns about having colliope.com be a true primary domain.

Hi Col,
It sounds like it's just a problem with the "prefix" for your database. Let me go see what's what and I'll get back to your shortly on this.

The problem Col had was that a database username can be a maximum of seven characters. Col thought hers was eight characters long so the db couldn't find the username.
