Php & Kernel Upgrade for Nova
« on: August 16, 2005, 04:36:48 PM »

On Wednesday Aug 17th between 11:00Pm and 4:00 AM Aug 18th CDT, Nova will be upraded from Php version 4.3.11 to 4.4.0. There will be no anticipated downtime to the server with this upgrade. However if using Simple Machines Forum V1.05 or below keep in mind this upgrade will break your forum. However Simple Machines has a fix that is very easy to install:

http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=41955.0

It is recommended that everyone using SMF install the patch asap, as it poses no problems with the current version of Php.

/Edit:
Also I have just been informed it was decided to upgrade the servers Kernel also during this time. The server will need to be rebooted after this upgrade. However it should be brief. No more than a 10 minute outage.

The Kernel upgrade which will require a reboot has been postponed until a later date. Sorry about the confusion on this, but we want to get it done right.

cool
