NeoMail Poop Out
« on: January 11, 2006, 02:50:15 PM »

My NeoMail account isn't functioning. It says I have no messages. Horde & Squirrel say otherwise.

Before & during this, if I COULD load my INBOX, I'd click on an email and get the message page "What the heck? Message #..... seems to have disappeared..." etc.

Now, for some time, I've had problems discarding email into my trash folder. I'd check off several emails, click DISCARD and get a "Page not found" thing.

So, I can't access NeoMail at all anymore.

Whom shall I shoot first? I'm sure Bert's last on the list.

Thanks,

Rogi huh

Hi Rogi,
Well the problem is with Cpanel's email system, While it is an excellent email system, it can be confusing. When a ZboX account is created, Cpanel automatically creates an email account under the accounts username. That "Default" email address is basically a catch all address for unrouted spam. By unrouted spam I mean stuff that is mailed to "admin@yourdomain.com" etc. In other words spam that is using your domain, but there really is no such email address associated with your account. Unrouted email such as this is sent to the Default email address and then there is two places for it to go. Either to :blackhole: or :fail:. If it goes to :blackhole: it just softly and silently vanishes. If it goes to :fail: that will bounce the email back to the sender. You set the :blackhole: / :fail: option in your Cpanel's "Email Management" section under the "Default E-mail account" link. Ok, now I'm sure you next question is going to be, "But, what if I actually want to use my default email address to actually receive mail?". The answer to that is just create an email account in Cpanel's "Email Management" section using the "Add / Remove E-mail account(s)" link. Then just create a new email account using the default address with whatever password you would like. Then when you want to check your email, use Cpanel's "Read Webmail" link. When the page comes up, click on the "Neomail" link, Then when Neomail comes up, click on the little "X in a box" icon at the far left of the icons at the top right of the Neomail page. That will log you out. Then, login in again, using your full email address, and the password you set for it, and all should be well again.

I know this might be confusing. Frankly I thought I had posted something about this in the Knowledge Base, but apparently I didn't. Sorry about that. If all of this is a little confusing, I can fix it easily. Just email me the password you want to use for your email (it should be the same as your Cpanel's password) and I'll get the email account set up for you properly.
