What 'ya got there??

Everyone on Nova is moving to a new server.
« on: April 17, 2006, 08:56:10 PM »

Well I gave the provider a chance to get their act together. Our members are important to us, so to alleviate the issues Nova has been having, I'm moving everyone off of Nova over to a brand new server with our main provider. This servers name is "Aries". And it's a beast. The sever is located in the same Los Angeles Data Center as Mig is. Even though both servers are now located in the same data center, the odds of both of them being down at the same time is slight. Here are the specs for Aries:

Processor: Dual Opteron 246
Memory: 2GB RAM
Hard Drives: Three 160GB SATA Drives (RAID 5)
Redundant Power Supplies
400GB backup Drive

And also all accounts will be backed up to our NAS backup server, which is located in a different Data Center in a different part of the country. For more redundancy.

The actual move will happen this week. This move will take a while longer as our provider has no control over Nova. So each account must be moved one at a time. No downtime due to the move, and for you folks that are involved in the move there will be nothing for you to do. One minute you will be on Nova, the next, you will be on Aries.

More info on the move will be posted on this forum soon.

I have no idea what you just said, of course. huh

But it's nice to know someone's lookin' out for us.

And does this have anything to do with why trying to use my file manager yesterday was a lot like trudging across molasses coated sand dunes on snowshoes? Only slower??  angry

Hi Sandy,
Well you are on the Mig server. And I wasn't aware of any issues yesterday. So, if that happens in the future please email me asap or post in the forum so I can check it out. Mig is brand new so there should be no hiccups. If there are, I will get them taken care of post haste!

Hmmmm....
I am experiencing some slowness still, Bert even pages that are being used over and over load slowly. It's not the web pages themselves, it's the folders in the FM that are being glacial. It's not happening over at my other FM  smile, so I don't think it's at my end.

While I've got you, I wonder if you'd mind changing the doctype in my default html script file? I'd like to use this one from now on...

Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/1999/REC-html401-19991224/loose.dtd">

Thanks Bert  thumbsupsmileyanim

Hi Sandy,
Ok the Doctype has been changed. And you are right Mig is having a problem. And no this shouldn't be happening. The problem should be sorted out soon once and for all.
