Bert, b4, you said zbox couldn't support any sound files. In the new TOS, you say no RealAudio. Is any form of sound file supported by zbox? Can you show me how, if so?

Hi Rogi, Well ZboX supports the following file types:
.mid, .mod, .xm, .s3m, .wav, .mp3. Midi files are the only supported by PC as autostarted files on a web page. The other file types PC's can only download. The above filetypes can be played on Msntv in the Ziteman filemanager, or autostarted in a sig or web page.
What file types are you wanting to use?
Bert

The "cheapest" way to store sound as in small--3-6min.--radio stories.
Is that mp3?
I'm such a luddite

Not necessarily. KUNM uses UNIVERSITY facilities and, therefore, has plenty of bandwidth to piss away, provided someone posts it to a web page.
I'm thinking more about independent productions. I'm also thinking about sound CLIPS: teasers, for people considering buying a program from me.
If I get too large, I've CERTAINLY lost WebTV users and my own computer capacities, as well.
I'd rather not lose sound quality, but spoken word is no biggy.
For sound rich stuff, I'll have to work around. I CAN host stuff on http://prx.org but was hoping to stall paying my fifty dollar annual membership fee for a few more months, anyway....
I'm thinking I just want some "samplers" at rriverstone.com; I can put the big junk on other people's servers, for the most part....

Ok, you are going to smack me but I suggest realaudio LOL! And I don't mean ram files. Ram's are just pointers to where the actual audio file is located. However you can host realmedia .rm files. Those are the actual audio files that ram's point to. Yes I know, I have stated no realaudio in any way shape or form in our TOS. And I will make a provision in it for hosting original rm files. With permission. Especially seeing that this seems to be change the TOS week LOL!
But as far as how to produce the rm files I have no experience with them. I do know that there is a program called "Real Producer" that you will need to download.

We have RealProducer at the station. Hell, it MAY be on this computer, right here. And my other computer I borrowed from an indy producer; for all I know, he's got it on there, as well.
Then, I'll have to figure out uploading them to the domain. But that's down the way a smidge, I'm thinking.
Thanks, Bert. A TOS should be a living thing, growing organically as it needs. PPL who put rigid TOSs in place find their clients pretty damn grumpy pretty fast (webtv) -- and usually don't have the humanity to ammend. Especially corporations, run by committee. One of the main reasons I'm with you is: YOU AINT NO COMMITTEE! :)

Let me play around with the "how" and maybe I can consult w/your other clients about this, too. It's not hard, really.
With puters the way they are now, ANYBODY with internet access can produce radio now. Whether they have the talent, the discipline and something to SAY is another issue, but they CAN produce radio!
