What 'ya got there??
|
As some of you know for the last three months Rox has been having some health issues. Possibly related to her heart. Well I'm happy (actually I'm giddy!) to report that Rox's heart is just fine. The stress test she did back in late December did come up positive for heart disease. But for women her age there is a 50 percent chance that it will come up positive even though there are no issues. Frankly with those odds I'm not sure why they would even bother with that test but I digress. The next test after that was done in the middle of January and that was a nuclear stress test. The nuclear test is where they inject radioactive dye into your bloodstream and then either make you run the treadmill or chemically stress your heart. Then take xray pics of your heart. Well she past that test with flying colors. Why her doctor did not tell us that will be dealt with very soon. The 48 hour heart monitor she was put on after her major episode on December 2nd also came up negative. Again why we were not told is a mystery at this point. We were told today by the cardiologist that her "episodes" were basically anxiety attacks. The major factor is in her chest. Seems she has arthritis in her chest and back bones. When the arthritis flares it can make it stressful to breath. And when you don't know what is causing that little breathing problem that can cause anxiety. In other words it scares the bejeebers out of you. But now that we know what is going on we can deal with it and Rox won't be as scared when it happens! Duh! The specter of heart disease hanging over your head can cause serious stress in an individual. Like I said, if we would have been told last month that her heart was fine then that would have gone a long way to alleviating her (and mine) stress levels. But the bottom line is she is ok. Now that we know what is going on we'll see if her episodes continue as bad as they had in the past. And if they do then trying various forms of anti anxiety medication would be the next step. We'll deal with that if and when it comes up. But the bottom line is my lovely wife is just fine!!
