A tracking device for Miss Tootsie??
« on: August 13, 2007, 09:29:48 PM »

Toots has a habit of disappearing from time to time. She did it in Texas too. Once she vanished for almost three days! Skeert the bejeebers out of us. And we do know that when a cat gets a wound like a scratch or bite it can turn into an abscess and there could be a very high fever involved with that. When that happens the cat will just hide somewhere until either the fever breaks or they die. But of course when an abscess happens, after the fever breaks the abscess usually breaks, so they come home with a big hole in them. Swiss cheese cats are common around here LOL! Ok so we have a feeling that Miss Tootsie is playing us. Our thinking is that she adopts another family who of course feed her and give her pets etc. Toots will get up in the morning, eat her breakfast and then vanish for the rest of the day. And I mean she's nowheres to be found during the day. We won't see her until the early evening. It's almost like she has a job to go to LOL! Haven't seen a single paycheck yet though ~;-). So our theory is that she has another house she adopts, and the folks there feed her and treat her like a member of the family. That could explain her vanishing like she does. She's over at the "other" home, and something happens and they have to leave for an extended time. Toots winds up getting locked in the house. She has food and water so that's not a problem. And she comes "home" when she can manage to get out of the "other" house. She vanished on us last night. Naturally with the cougar problem we are having we were fearing the worst. But I get up this morning and there she is waiting to be let in. The folks at the "other" house might have to go to work earlier than we do. So they let her out before they leave and she comes home to us. And with her size (she's a big freakin cat!), her snow white color, and her blue eye and her green eye:

What cat lover could resist her?? Imagine if she showed up at your back door?

Microchip?  It's the same idea as an ID tag - but can be scanned by any vet if someone finds the cat.  It's become a common thing for most areas today to check an animal to see if they have one embedded in their skin.  See if it's something your vet offers.

that has happened with my neighbor, she had a cat she wouldn't neuter, (or get vaccines) it would disappear for a day or 2 here and there, just like miss tootsie; then 1 day he showed up neutered, lol. I later found out who the 2nd home was, but didn't tell her, because they were taking better care of him than she did.

Yah D, I've heard of cats doing this. I feel sorry for the other family in Texas that had Tootsie just vanish on them. Seems ML misunderstood my post. I do know of the ID microchips. I was looking for something more like the James Bond tracking devices where we could find out just where she goes LOL! Maybe we could strap a wireless webcam to her head! "The Tootsie Cam!" Imagine how the other family would freak when she walked in their door with that?
