error log

An "error log" file has popped up in my sig directory and each time I delete it, it returns. What is it, and how can I get rid of it?

Hi Ed, The error log is due to an upgrade on the Aries server. The Zend library was upgraded. We use this library to help maintain the stability and security of the servers at ZboX. Occasionally we need to update it and instead of taking all websites on the server offline we just remove it and replace it which causes errors like this to show up in some logs when PHP is accessed. It's nothing to worry about and the error logs should go away in the next couple of days. If you have any other problems let me know.

Thanks, Bert. It's been around for awhile. But I'll wait until Columbas Day for it to go away.

With all the above being said.. i had deleted some error logs out of 2 php directories that i didn't know where there. The error log sizes were too big for my comfort so I deleted them as a 'non-spiral' problem LoL. THEN, I came here and saw this forum post. I also saw the error log in cPanel and learned a bit about 'favicon.ico' errors and robot.txt files ;)
Ok, so if I wasn't suppose to DELETE those error logs, well, too late now. Everything still seems to work just peachy-poo. My question is:
Does that error log in cPanel clear itself or is it a non-stop running machine?

Guess I'll have to go thru my files again - you know I came across some a while back. Deleted what I saw - didn't harm anything as far as I could tell.

Here's eventually what I discovered:
I noticed the error logs were showing up in PHP directories and were becoming sizable. I wasn't keeping an eye on them until my disk space was 'slowly' depleting so I deleted them. Tough for me to figure out what all of those errors were or what generated them. Also, I created a 'robots.txt' file in my ROOT directory just in case some of the errors were caused by spiders. Along with that I created a 'favico.ico' file in my ROOT directory cuz I was seeing those errors too.
In a nutshell, I am not sure what I am doing really and just experimenting. So far I have not detected 1 error file in these (php) directories since I have done that or maybe I am just lucky I dunno. Maybe Bert will see this and give me a pat on the back OR, start rolling on the floor with guffaws. we'll see.

Then these are generating from the file manager - not from our coding or lack there of.
I have NO PHP on my site BUT - I have the PHP Browse script for the gifs in th file! If Bert will go into my .net account - and look in the AWARDS file - there's an error_log in there. Also in the DRAKE & MP3 files.
That's got to be what's generating the error logs

Hi..the error_ log didn't show my errors. and I know that couldn't be right. So, I used the Perl script finder for all of them, ccped the list and that helped save time in deleting.
That is one tool I could not work without with my short memory, wtvs even shorter.
I find many duplications also using it. (())

Hi Lila, If you get any more error logs please email me about them. Those shouldn't happen, but of course it all depends on the script you are trying to run.
