I'm reposting this from Patrick at web-nuts -
Once again, we are putting together an Audio Christmas Card , all we ask is that you submit a short audio greeting, then we will pass it along to MLski to work her magic.
Here is last years greeting, so you get an idea of how easy it is to participate: MP3, WMA, Mono MP3 (best for WebTV users)
Joining us is as easy as making a phone call, I have a line dedicated to this project, all you have to do is call this number, it will take you directly to voice mail, just leave your short audio greeting and we'll do the rest. The number to call is 1-414-455-5476 (Patrick)
You will notice that in the example I posted, most of the greetings are 5 to 10 seconds long, that's all we need, just leave your name and/or nick name (speak clearly & no background music please), and a short holiday greeting. See, quick and painless, and a LOT of fun!
If you have the ability to make your own audio file, make your message in either .wav or .mp3 format and mail it directly to ML < mlski1@yahoo.com >or leave one of us a private message with the file.
There are several ways that you can make your own audio, all you need is a microphone and an audio recorder.
Anyone with Windows XP has a built in sound recorder too, go to:
Start > All Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Audio Recorder
Another option is the program that I use The Audio Recording Wizard http://www.nowsmart.com/arwizard/ they have a free trial version that produces several formats from many sources. The free version is limited to 3 minute audio clips, plenty for this use.
Or one of the free programs like http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ or http://www.mp3mymp3.com/
But as I said in the beginning, the easiest way is to just pick up the phone and leave a message. Also, if you are not able to make the long distance call, please drop me an email and I will be happy to call you back to record your greeting.
