ZboX acquires Domania Internet Services, Amishhosting, and PDhomes
« on: January 31, 2008, 12:01:44 AM »

I am pleased to announce that ZboX Webhosting, will as of the 1st of February 2008 become the new owners of Domania Internet Services, Amishhosting, and PDhomes. Amish and PDhomes will be folded into the existing ZboX infrastructure. Domania will remain a separate entity. That's the way Craig would have wanted it, and that's the way we'll keep it. Amish members will be "grandfathered" into our existing ZboX plans. There will be no change in your pricing structure. Members of Domania will not have any effects to their pricing structure either. Paid members of PDhomes will also be grandfarthered into the existing ZboX service. There will be no change. Free accounts at PDhomes will be eliminated whithin six months. Free PDhomes members will have the option of integrating into the existing ZboX member base.

As we integrate these companies into ours there will be some changes. But not to anyones pricing structure. There will be NO changes to the existing disk space and bandwidth of existing Domania, Amish, or PDhomes members. I just want to make that clear.

The current plan is to eventually move everyone away from the current Domania, Amish, and Pdhomes servers. Ya'll will not be jammed onto our current ZboX servers. Our plan for Domania is, server wise, it will be split in two. And those two servers will house nothing besides Domania. The server environment will be different also. They will be enterprise class servers (read monster) with Raid disk management. Also a 4 layer backup strategy will be implemented. All servers will have daily, weekly, and monthly backups, and once per week the weekly backup will be migrated to a different server in a different datacenter. Just for redundancy.

These changes will take some time. But I feel confidant that we can provide all of our new members with the hosting experience they desire.

My thanks to Paul Ding for providing us with this opportunity.

Welcome aboard everyone!

~;-)

Bert

Much appreciated. I know there will be lots of jaw droppings over this. But we'll do it right.

GREAT news Bert.
Hi Rox.
There are questions being posted in Newsgroup (php) about not being able to use other FMs.  Will this remain a policy or may they use other scripts?  Also, Bert, point me to the scripts not to be used at zbox...please.

Most of all, couldn't happen as suprisingly nor to a better host than you and Rox.  I wish you much success with this new venture and I will feel good you have Craigs work he had to leave unfinished.
And, to Paul, whom I adore, may he, too, have exciting experiences he loves.

I was wondering about the file manager too. I'm pretty comfortable with the one at pdhomes.

Hi Lila,
Our banned scripts list is here:

http://zboxhosting.com/board/index.php/topic,5.0.html

As far as alternate filemanagers is concerned we'll leave that ban at ZboX only. I know Paul allowed folks at Domania and Amish to use alternates. We'll continue with Paul's policy.

Thanks Lila, much appreciated.

We'll continue with Paul's policy. We'll probably leave the option of what filemanager folks want to use up to them. The way I see it now, even folks at Domania will have the option of using the ZboX filemanager also if they wish.

Thanks for posting in the php ng, Bert.

Now for perhaps a question, prematurely, about cost of the combined.???  If we wanted to pay monthly for an Amish and zbox 500 mg or perhaps Amish at 25 mbs will this be possible?

Too nice a day to be discussing money. gr

I already know you have planned this and will post it and shame on me for jumping ahead.

Hi Lila,
Yes combining accounts will be possible. Also moving between the different servers will be possible also. After all, we're all just one big happy family now. Don't have any prices on combined accounts yet.

Count me in with the dropping jaws!  So what's become of Paul?  Are you going to try to resurrect his IM for public use again?  or just use zbox's internal IM?

Paul's health issues are forcing him to retire. We will try to resurrect the public IM.

I was afraid of that for Paul - I've tried to contact him several times about AmishIM, but never heard anything back.  Glad you're going to try to keep the public IM going - the more mirrors the better.  Let me know so I can add it back to the collection!!

Hey Amigo focus on billing
and moving the server accounts under your protective wing.

ImageMagick can wait a bit.
Lets see doesn't Amish and domania both have private Imagemagick's?

Since the ImageMagick interface is such a "Mother Puppy"(Paul Dings term) to config. Maybe you can use a template kind of loosly to
config the other IM's of Amish, domania, like you have Zbox.

As I remember when you were getting zbox's IM up and running. It was challenging to say the least.

Pace your self Brah. Keep your SuperMan Brrrrrt cape in the box.

You know a blue print of sorts may not be a bad idea. So you can see how things need to flow.

We all want you to be happy and successful. Try to do it all in your head and your head will burst.

If it helps any. Applying Landlord logic here. Since we both rent space. Just different tundra.

When a new owner buys a multi-family dwelling with existing leases in place.
The new landlord honors the terms of the lease that is in place. So you are doing the right thing. When the lease term comes to a end.
The lease can be renewed if both agree. If neither bring it up then by default it goes to a month to month agreement. At the end of the lease term. The owner can write up a new contract.

Might apply to this or not.

So, Bert...

It would appear we've come full circle and I am to be a province(or three) in the Pourchet Empire once again. Ain't it funny how it goes 'round...  cool

Very strange, but I'm glad you got it.

And yea verily I knew that. Remembered talking with a bank teller once while processing a money order, and we were wondering if an American type person would pronounce that name the right way or not.  biggrin

I thought about what I'd written after I went to bed, and after letting it bother me for a bit, I got up, checked some of our old bi'ness correspondence/cheques and money orders, and there it was... all spelled the right way 'n' stuff. Should'a caught it. Sorry Boit.

Hi Bert,my name is Joanne and I have had an account with Domania for years. I just found out that it was sold yesterday when I couldn't get into my account. Why weren't we sent an email or something from Paul? I am at Domania almost everyday so I don't understand. It was letting me in until just a couple of days ago so I just thought Domania itself was having problems and didn't think anything of it. Where is my stuff??? I paid through Paypal on Feb. 5 and they accepted the payment and said nothing about this. I have never been late with my payments and I have to tell you I am starting to FREAK out over this. Please email me at newjerseyjoanne@msn.com or better yet a phone call at xxx-xxx-xxxx  I won't be able to sleep not knowing what is going on... Thank you,Joanne
