Verizon DSL/Wireless are 2 different things?

Verizon DSL/Wireless are 2 different things? Aren't they? I have had a Verizon DSL connection for my Desktop. I now have a Laptop. I can hook up and use the laptop here at home. It is config'ed by inputting my wep key # from my router.
I cannot hook up out side of my home to the www.

If I am understanding this correctly. Verizon has 2 types of DSL. One is the DSL router for your desktop the other is a wireless connection that uses a different type of router, correct? So in order for me to use my laptop to connect to the www away from home base. I need to get a different connection. A different router?
This is called verizon wireless. I think?
On my Verizon bill the online part is listed as Broadband Verizon high speed internet for $31.99 per month

Next question is.....

1.)
I have Verizon as my Land line company. I have 2 phone numbers.

2.)
I have direcTV.

3.)
I have a cell phone with AT&T.

Can I bundle it?  Or does the AT&T cell phone blow that? If I was to switch to verizon cell account are their penalties involved?

Last question....
What is the best angle to attack this from?

A.)
Do I contact Verizon wireless?

B.)
Verizon Phone/land line?

C.)
DirecTV (I wouldn't think so but who knows?)

All this bundle in the online jungle stuff makes me dizzie Ms. Lizzie!   wacko

Actually you are talking about 3 different things here. Verizon DSL hooks up to your wifi router to give you wifi at home. Verizon Wireless is a blend of two different things. First is cell phones/pda's/blackberry's etc. Second is wireless web for your laptop. Wireless web is a card you plug into your laptop's pcmcia slot and use Verizon's wireless web network the same way cell phones and pda's do. It's much faster than dialup, and almost as good as dsl speeds. The caveat is that it ain't cheap. More info on it can be found here:

Ok .... I don't think I need a card to plug in to the lappy pcmcia slot.

This is the laptop I have. OS has been un-done redone. It has a dual boot to XP and Linux.
It has connected up to WIFI in PA on a test. So we know it does work.

Right, your laptop, (nice one by the way), has a wifi adapter built in, so you can pick up wifi anywhere there is a wifi "hotspot" like your home or Starbucks.

To use Verizon Wireless on your laptop, you'll need to purchase one of the plans which will include the pcmcia card. With that card you can connect your laptop to the web even if you aren't in a wifi hotspot as long as you are in Verizons wireless web coverage zone.

Also, it might be possible to "bundle" all of those. Check with your local providers such as your phone company, cell company etc. But sometimes "bundling" is not something you would want to do. These days most "bundles" have an attractive price for a limited time. After the "honeymoon" is over the prices go up, and it's usually the same price for what you would pay for the individual services when paid separately.

Ah so! Ok I'm starting to wipe the mud out of my eyeballs.
So with the verizon DSL broadband account I now have the only thing I can access the www
on is through my router here at the house sitting right next to it.  If I go out to front of the house with my laptop
or even downstairs I won't be able to connect with the current verizon account I have. Does that sum it up right?
Or am I confused again/still LOL.  blink

I'm very pleased with the laptop. My techie guy is good. Plus he is an all around good guy,
& a great friend.

I'm glad that it is the type of connection I have and not el stooopio me error.
I hate blocking with my face. My nose gets all loppsided.

Nope you got it right 'Brah. Your homebound wifi connection through your wireless router will only allow you to connect in your home. You can extend your wifi range with various other wifi routers/antenna's. But those cost bucks.
