I've been having trouble hooking up with my pages and FM today. Getting lots of 'can't find server notices' and instant timeouts. Sometimes the pages I want can be accessed by working around from a different direction, sometimes not, and it doesn't seem to matter how often I've been able access them previously, they are just as likely to be unavailable at a later time.

Not fun...   huh

Texun, this is what I get when I look at your page on my laptop:

http://guide.opendns.com/?url=pdhomes.net%2Fstb%2Frandr%2Fkennelklub.html&servfail

Also get something similar when I go to my moorelinks.com at AH. Think I'll have a shower and see what's happening later.

BTW Nice to see you again,

mike

Yah that's because Capricorn has just dropped offline. Not sure what is causing the issue but it's telling me that bind has failed. "bind" is what controls DNS on the server. I'm going to post about the problem in a separate thread as soon as I know what is going on.

Ok sorry that was my bad. We were starting the sync from all 4 servers at once. Apparently that was a bit much and caused everything to drop offline. Everything has been restarted and we'll do them one at a time now ~;-)

Bert

Edit:
And of course I had just posted that Capricorn was now on the server status page when that happened! So I go and look and everything is down.  DOH!

I know Sandy. Remember when I first started the dns switch things would come up and then go back to 404 errors for me also. Things will get better.

Domain www.nellybly.com is still coming up forbidden but http://pdhomes.net/music/isleofjersey/index.html is showing up fine for me.

I'm sending the page to my daughters to make sure it comes up ok for them, too. They both have different ISPs than me and each other.

Hi Nelly,
Yah it appears there is an issue with your nellybly.com account. We'll get that sorted out shortly.

Everything seems to be ok for me now. I can see texun's page, I can get into AH fm and even saw Nelly's page (BTW It's a great one!)

I suppose we shouldn't do anything in the fm during syncs? BTW is there an alloted number of directories we can have at d21c.com? I can't make anymore. The folder part is trivial and not that important, so save it for when everything is settled and back to normal.

Now, I have to learn how to quote. Good luck with everything,

mike

Hi Gary,
The missing PDhomes has to be DNS. That should fix itself soon. If your buggyrat.com domain is a redirect to your PDhomes account, I've found that alot of those didn't make the transfer so I am going to need to rebuild them. (That's what Nelly's problem is) I should have those rebuilt by this evening.

Still can't get to my pages. In fact, it is worse. I gad discovered that I could get to some of them like this -> http://208.79.239.92/~djmike/ but shortly after I discovered that, it abruptly stopped working.

Hi Mike,
How did you run that traceroute you posted yesterday? Did you run that off of a PC? (don't know if you have one or not). Here's a traceroute done from centralops.net. That is a traceroute from a server in central Texas:

Tracing route to eclecticdjs.com [208.79.239.92]...

Here is how I got the traceroute:
http://www.opus1.com/htbin/traceroute?debug=NO&query=eclecticdjs.com&max=30&min=1&num=3&as=no&nosym=no&owner=no&spray=yes&lsrr=default

Texun:
Suzanne's site is/was on PDHomes and has different issues. Yesterday, I could get it but the URL wasn't being re-written. Now, nothing.

Suzanne is using a redirect to her PDhomes account. I had that working yesterday but now it's not working. I think I might have lost the redirects again with the sync. Sigh.

Hi Mike,
Theres just something odd here. I can access everything on both PC and Webtv. Traceroute from my PC shows everthing is fine herein OR. The Centralops traceroute goes from TX. Shows everything is just fine. The Opus1 tracetroute originates in AZ. Shows everything is just fine. Mike is in CA and can't access anything. Huh! Mike per chance are you on the Webtv "no upgrade" server?

Edited to add:
And no sooner do I send that than everything is working again. Aaagghhhh....

I keep forgetting though that Webtv users local ISP won't matter. As the DNS comes from the Webtv servers in CA. I even confuse myself sometimes LOL

Sandy,
Do you know how to run a tracetroute from your PC? If not, let me know if you are on XP or Vista and I will email you to walk you through it. If you do know how, could you post the results for me?

Thanks,

You're gonna love this... running a traceroute on sandycor.com I got "unable to resolve targetsystem name sandycor.com", but running one on wortleyvillage.net instead I got a result traceing it back to "boojum.observerco.com"

edited to add:
but... all my pages are still available to me at this time.

Don't edit a page on AH unless you creat another copy of it first. I did and it disappeared. Also can't beam anything there. This could be one of those temporary things that'll pass.

I haven't been working on my site recently and have almost everything backed up on another host so I wasn't worried about the move.

Today I tried logging in to my cpanel and file manager. I logged in to my file manager but if I try to log in to my cpanel it says my username or password are invalid. I tried many times. Before if I logged in to either the cpanel or file manager I would be logged in to both.

I don't really use my cpanel much except to check the error log and look at stats.

Same here as far as cpanel. Get the user name login popup then the screen goes grey and popup appears again and again. No biggie, never used it BUT for years I could click on it without that popup..Don't know when that was added..
