Mig and Aries server relocation Saturday July 5th
« on: June 30, 2008, 04:49:57 PM »

Date:
July 5, 2008

Time:
Approximately 11am-12PM PST  . Exact times will be posted once the servers are taken down and back online.

Our provider for Mig and Aries are relocating these servers to their new shiny datacenter. The location of the datacenter is right next door to the old one. Expected down time should be less than thirty minutes. The scope of the move is this. The servers are powered down, the tech then unplugs the server, then walks it next door to the new datacenter. The server is then reconnected and powered up. The server infrastructure is already in place and has been tested. There will be no DNS issues as the servers will have the same IP addresses etc. They've been moving servers for a couple of weeks now and have not had one issue with any of the moves. It's all plug and play. The upside to this move will be more expandability for our provider which will include even more backbone connections than the three that already in place. The only downside to all of this is that this forum will be offline during the move at it is on Mig. More info on the move will be posted in the ZboX EIC located at http://zboxhosting.info

More announcements regarding the move will be announced here in the Forum Friday.

Hi Lila,
Yes you are on Mig. The benefits to your accounts most likely not be noticeable as we will get another couple of backbone providers with the move. And frankly we've never really had any connectivity issues with the current backbones. But the more the better I always say.  But the servers themselves will remain as they are. No changes to the servers will be made.

Will they be getting Imagick soon? I have more than 25 demo scripts for Imagick and nobody can use them but me. Here are 25 that I have on a web page:

http://eclecticdjs.com/mike/temp/08/06/imagick/index.php

That's probably more Imagick examples in one place that you can find anywhere else online. http://php.net has almost no documentation for Imagick.

I have found no one has the IMAGICK on any host that I can find.
I find the scripting far eaiser to understand and has many qualities that are superior.

In Art I have wanted to use the sepia coloring effects but to find the right pixel values was indeed hard. I was truly impressed when Mike made his tool with this effect and now I can use my old family photos to enhance them and bring out what the camera took away.I have not found this anywhere else other than at Capricorn. Not even zbox has these capabilities.

There's a process in the art world, Giclee,(phonics..Ge clay) meaning a waterolour painting can go through this type spraying of a gillion-trillion, (sp) dots of colors.  The end results then becomes a vibrant and expensive life long piece of art. More to this than just this information, and is very expensive to have done.

So color effects play a great part in this with using IMAGICK.

Hi Mike and Lila,
We have installed Imagick on both Mig and Aires. However keep in mind that Imagick is for PHP 5 only. Both Mig and Aries are at PHP 4 by default however you can run PHP 5 via .htaccess. However I'm not sure how that will effect the running of Imagick. Theoretically it shouldn't. But we'll see. If it does fail on Mig and Aries we'll probably just have to wait until August when PHP 4 goes EOL and then we'll run PHP 5 on them by default.

I have used the .htacces php 5 in many of my directories since you posted it, Bert.  Today I added the php 5 to my FM. Then took out the one in the IMAGICK sub to check this method out. The resize is the only one that works so far. ekkkkhttp://dlilahl.zboxhosting.com/00IMs/IMAGICK/Mikes-IMAGICK-resize.php

Currently I am waiting on word from the Datacenter on the exact time the servers will be taken offline. It should be soon. I will continue this in the EIC at http://zboxhosting.info

Ok, well it seems they forgot about us. LOL! I'm tired of waiting on this so I've bumped the question up to the CEO of our provider. I expect some tapdancing soon LOL.

More info as I get it.

Well that was a pile of pants. On the plus side the moves have been completed and with no problems. Do ya'll feel like ya traveled 500 feet??

Yah the lack of communication is very troubling to me. But it's done, and it went well. So onward and upward.

Hi Lila,
No the move was so sophisticated that ya actually had a sysadmins hands on  you, who picked you up, carried you 500 feet, (probably more as elevators were involved) and then set you down in the new DC.

They have hundreds of servers to move. Let's just hope none of them get dropped LOL!
