Knock, knocking on
« on: April 13, 2008, 12:38:04 PM »

Knock, knocking on both my cpanel's and my filemanagers' doors.  I've been in both less that sporadically.. I guess that would be "erratically" then.

Last night I managed to get into my email after doing an ipconfig\flushdns command.. but that didn't work today.  I also could get to my "quicky" page which has links to cpanel/fm1/fm2/pdhomes etc.. but clicking those links brought up "server not found".  Today I can't even get the quicky page to show.

A quick look at one of the few spots I wear an avatar linked from my site shows the avatar.

This reminds me of when the above site did a server change .. some people could get in fine but others of us had to do a host change thingy (I'm being vague since it happened a year ago).  I'm going to go see if I can find the thread on it to see just what we had to while we were in "limbo".

(edit) Eh.. I'm not sure changing the hosts file would do me any good.. I just pinged my site w/wo www appended at it came up as not found. That and I can't figure what IP number belongs to 1) my fm 2) my email or 3) what amishhosting's IP number is (to change in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc) .. so I'll just sit back and hope that I can get in before my "trash" box explodes.  closedeyes

Hi Misty,
The IP for Capricorn is 208.79.239.92
That IP applies for everything except Domania.
Paul posted this and it's a really good idea if you like being a little adventursome on your PC:

http://www.opendns.com/how/dns/turning-names-into-numbers

Some other things to try if you know how to use the command line:

nslookup yourdomain.com

ping yourdomain.com

tracert yourdomain.com

Email me the results of those and I'll see what I can see.

This move frankly has gone very well. We moved over 300 users and I think we only have less than 10 folks that are still having DNS issues. Some ISP's are horrible at handling DNS. Calling your ISP and hammering them about the issue could help also.

Well, I'm able to get into cpanel again.  I grabbed the email I needed and am quite happy.  I'm going to copy your reply just in case I have any more trouble.  If I do, I will report back with whatever info I come up with then.

Thanks for being so prompt in replying!
