Webmail
« on: April 14, 2008, 08:53:52 AM »

Misty can get email? I jst tried again. Squirelmail can't find page. Horde can't find page and gives an anoying pop-up that follows you around. It as apparently onExit. I thought I was going to have to power off to get rid of the damn pop-up.

There was a new one called "Roundcube" but there is no way to log into it. Tried

username
username@domain.com
username+domain.com

Nothing. Just like that horde pop-up.

I haven't tried the webmail in the new cpanel yet but since it didn't work with Webtv in the old one it probably won't work in the new one.

At Arborhosting they have a Squirrelmail that works with Webtv. I have had problems getting some of the settings to stick but at least I can use it.

In my Amishhosting account I have to use mail2web to access my mail.

I haven't checked making filters yet but that stopped working in the old cpanel too. I get around 100 spams a day and the filters might get rid of some of them.

I tried the webmail. With Squirrelmail I get page not found. With Horde I get the page to pick the language and then page not found. When I tried to log in to the new one I got sent back to the login page.

I tried making filters and that works now.

I kind of hated the new cpanel when I first saw it but I went to the part where you could change what it looks like and changed it to mobile. That one looks better and loads faster on Webtv.

Bad news. Apparently Cpanel webmail is no longer compatible with Webtv. Seems that change happened when Cpanel upgraded to Cpanel 11. I'm investigating whether a local install of Squirrelmail will work with Webtv, or if there is another email script that I can install that will work. You used to have the option of being able to Pop3 your email directly into your Webtv email but seems MSN in their infinite wisdom have now made that feature only work for a few servers. None of which are ours.

It's possible you might be able to get into Squirrelmail by using a url like this:

http://yourdomain.com:2095/3rdparty/squirrelmail/src/webmail.php

Let me know if that works.

Also another possible option is Fastmail.

http://fastmail.fm

That used to be compatible with Webtv however I have no idea if it still is. With the free account you could pop3 your email into it. However I think the update time was two or three hours. Paid accounts at fastmail will get you instant pop3 updates.

I'm getting the run around too and I don't even have WebTV anymore.

I'm on computer using Windows XP Pro with Verizon DSL for my internet.

Getting the same messages.

True I don't have Amishhosting. I have PDHomes. But I do (or did) have Webmail via CPanel.

Does it make any difference?

Nelly,
The url for Cpanel has changed. Use yourdomain.com/cpanel
Your bookmarks for it will no longer work as we have done away with Rvskins.

Same rigamarole. I even went through different languages on the dropdown menu of Horde. No go in any language.  blink

Hmmm. I can access it just fine in Firefox. Ok let's try this:

https://208.79.239.92:2083/3rdparty/squirrelmail/src/login.php

Use the email address you want to check for the username, and the password associated with that account.

BTW the Windows Firewall (which I think I'm going to turn off) warned me not to go there.

I've got another firewall, provided by Verizon, so it isn't like I'm not protected.

Yah two firewalls really are not a good idea. Let me know if it works with the Windows firewall turned off.

I am so happy that I can make filters again.

I just checked my e-mail for the first time since I made filters about a week ago. Normally I would have had several hundred spams to delete. I only had 13 new e-mails and three of them weren't spam.

In the new cpanel I still get page not found pop-ups when I try to access my webmail. Before the server move I used to get some sort of error page.

I think it can be fixed. Today I managed to get in to my Squirrelmail using this url. I had to click on the link in my file manager, click show last, and delete parts to find the right url.

http://yugiohpics.net:2082/3rdparty/squirrelmail/src/webmail.php

Since I don't use the default account I now need to figure out how to get in to other e-mail accounts. The login page can't be found and I can't figure it out by altering the url.

When did this happen? It seemed like it took a long time for the mail to stop working. They didn't all stop working for me at once. When I first got my Amishhosting account I used Horde. When that stoped working I switched to Squirrelmail. When that stoped working I switched to Neomail. When that was removed I started using mail2web to access my domain e-mail.

Thanks for posting that. After I finish deleting the 900+ spam that has accumulated, I'll do some testing.

Seemed to have happened with one of the updates after the main Cpanel 11 upgrade. It took a while but once that update came, webmail went poof for Webtv.  Mail2web is good and also Fastmail.

I'm working on a fix for this. I'm going to install a standalone Squirrelmail that will not be associated with Cpanel so you all should be able to use it. I did that before quite some time ago before Squirrelmail was native to Cpanel. It's a pain to do but,  I'll let ya'll know when I get this done.
