Since monday,, I have been having a problem loading images and backgrounds into sig on msntv2.
Yesterday the problem advanced to loading on webpage or testbed...
the problem comes and goes away.. sometimes it seems to help if I go to the file manager and display the image,, then back to webpage or email write page,,, it will load..
These problems were with background src= or with img src= ------------- today .. loading random images or bg with this php code,,,instead of using .rfi,,,,,, is not working for bg or for images on webpage....
<body background="http://pdhomes.net/senior/erv/php/randomize.php?url=http://pdhomes.net/senior/erv/background/back.txt"/>

Hey Erv, I had the same thing happen with my randomizer. I copied the error msg from yours below.
I had the same thing happen with other scripts. I had created an image with one of my image tools but when I tried to beam it to a permanent location, I got a generic error msg so I made a script to copy it and got a "Couldn't resolve host name" error msg. Pagebuilder wouldn't upload it either. I could see the image every time I tried.
Warning: file() [function.file]: Couldn't resolve host name in /home/pdhomes/public_html/senior/erv/php/randomize.php on line 12 Warning: file(http://pdhomes.net/senior/erv/background/back.txt) [function.file]: failed to open stream: Success in /home/pdhomes/public_html/senior/erv/php/randomize.php on line 12 Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/pdhomes/public_html/senior/erv/php/randomize.php:12) in /home/pdhomes/public_html/senior/erv/php/randomize.php on line 18 Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/pdhomes/public_html/senior/erv/php/randomize.php:12) in /home/pdhomes/public_html/senior/erv/php/randomize.php on line 18

I ran a domain dossier for pdhomes.net over at centralops. All of the whois info for it came up fine, however I noticed it said there was NO IP associated with that domain! So after talking with the datacenter, it seems they were moving some switches around. Come to find out a setting on the moved switch hand been changed which caused the resolver on our server to work intermittently. That has now been fixed.

Hi Erv. Frankly I'm not familiar with how sigs are done on the Deuce. Maybe the folks over at web-nuts.com can help.

That's using Erv's code and I can see it fine.

You're getting an "HTTP Error 406 - Not acceptable" and the browser says "The resource cannot be displayed The resource you are looking for cannot be opened by your browser."
That tells me that the problem is the file itself rather than how it's being served.
The fact that you're able to open it in the browser directly, but not inside that code suggests that the problem lies within the browser itself. The Deuce has memory problems, and the fact that you're trying to display the image in a table inside a table inside a table means that you're asking the browser to juggle a lot of balls at once, memory wise.
That image has the following comment embedded in it: "Powered by Cold Fusion and CFX_IMAGE - Compressed by NetMechanic"
There was a problem a few years ago with pictures that had been compressed by NetMechanix. I don't know what the problem was with their code, because computer browsers had no problem, and neither did photo software on computers or websites, but if you took the image, saved it as a BMP file, and then converted the BMP file back to a JPG file, the image could be displayed.
I've done that with your image. It weighs in at 5921 bytes in this version, versus, 6981 bytes in the original. Hmmm. Doesn't sound like the NetMechanix software works very well in terms of compression, either, does it?
Anyhow, why don't you transload this file, and see if replacing the NetMechanix version of the image solves your problem. You may need to apply the old remedy - editing the image in some way - in order to get problem files to display.
Or not. I haven't a Deuce to check this out.

Hi Paul when I clicked on the 'lighthouse,jpg'-- I get this URL-
http://zboxhosting.com/board/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=723.0;id=115
How would I transload the jpg ? I took the URl and beamed it to my file and it came as index.php.
that didn't work ...
I didn't have any problems with images or iframes in my msntv2 email sig before the server change over and it fails on more than one image or page

When I try to click on that URL, it escapes the ">" character so that it ends up looking for a file named "border3.html%3E" Putting the URL in quotes probably would work better.
I didn't realize this board would give the attachment such a godawful URL. Give a programmer more than one way to do something, though, and he'll often choose the worst of all possible ways.
Oh, well. I've uploaded the image to a different site, and you can grab it from here: http://canthook.com/i2/lighthouse.jpg
It gets SO frustrating at times, dealing with the WebTV browser or the Deuce. With cable and satellite systems continuing to support analog television for the time being, it's hard to say how long either service will be around, but from what I read, digital television is taking off a lot faster than anyone expected it to. I can't imagine Microsoft budgeting much capital for improvements in the browser software. Possibly for a next generation digital box, but not for an analog one.
Of course, it's hard for me to criticize them for not wanting to support stuff because it's obsolete. My doctor feels the same way about me; I'm obsolete, and it'd be a lot easier to replace me with a newborn baby.

I don't know if there's anything to be learned from this, but I did a little experiment. I took this code
<html> <center> <iframe src="http://pdhomes.net/senior/erv/border/border3.html"></iframe> </center> </html> and stuck it in a file, gave it an HTML name, then displayed it in different browsers to see what the difference was.

This board shrinks down the image so it's unusable, so click here to see the full-size version. http://canthook.com/i2/browsers.jpg
This page displays quite a few different ways, depending on the browser's interpretation of how the HTML should be rendered, including 7 different renderings, most of them different, a blank page, and an error message.
It shouldn't surprise us, I suppose, that the Deuce adds yet another error message.
