PD Homes Problems
« on: April 18, 2008, 08:56:39 AM »

I keep waiting and hoping for the dust to settle on this server move. I've been a customer of Paul Ding since 2002. Good old reliable PD Homes, which used to be a Rock of Gibraltar for me, and fun to use with WebTV, has been reduced to an aggravation.

If I try to beam a graphic or file out of PD Homes to "another host" I get this message:

ERROR!
Unable to beam in the file!
Possible reasons:
Error 400 Bad URL Syntax
Error 403 Forbidden
Error 404 File Not Found
Error 500 Internal Server Error
Error 503 Gateway Timeout

If I try to move a directory out of PD Homes to "another host" I get this message:

Apache/2.2.8 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.8 OpenSSL/0.9.8b mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 PHP/5.2.5 Server at pdhomes.net Port 80
Error 200:

Out of curiosity I tried to move a graphic and file out of PD Homes to an old seldom-used Angelfire account I get this message:
"There was an error attempting to transload your file. It has been recorded in our logs and will be attended to. We apologize for this inconvenience."

It I take the same graphic and run it through one of the ImageMagicks just to change the URL, I'm able to beam it anywhere I want to.
Add this stuff to now mandatory multiple clicks and popups that I must endure to get anything done at PD Homes, it's starting to get on my nerves.

Graphics loading in sigs is now hit and miss. Finish work on a page and do a refresh. All of a sudden it freezes.

What's going on???

I ran the same tests. I'm unable to beam anything FROM PD Homes to my other hosting service. (The beamer at my other service works fine).

I'm unable to beam anything FROM PD Homes to Angelfire. I still get the same error messages.

This isn't a life and death matter. If another customer has problems with a serious web site or important issues, take care of them first.

Day 8.....or whatever it is. The crisis continues.

Still can't move anything OUT of PD Homes. (Not that it's becoming an increasingly attractive option.)

Still getting the same error messages.

Bert. Good luck. I wish you nothing but the best for your hosting service.

I was being loyal to a guy for almost 5 1/2 years because he's from Lancaster.

The "Delete Account" button doesn't work either.

Thank you Bill. Good luck to you too. I wish you would work with me on this a bit. I still don't know what images you are working with and which host the "other" host is. I can't fix something if I can't see what's broke.

My account was paid until November. Consider it a gift.

The "delete account" button still doesn't work and I still have to go through an obstacle course of pop ups and multiple clicks to even get there.

Good luck with your service.

Bill, beg pardon but I have offered to help you with this. I have received no emails from you or any other information in this thread other than the error messages you say you are receiving. I need to know where you are trying to transfer the files to. But you refuse to give me that information. Frankly with the lack of information you are providing me I'm not sure what you would like me to do. As far as Angelfire is concerned, well I always say you get what you pay for.

Bert

PS:
As an afterthought, if you are a webtv user have you ever powered off your box and unplugged it for a few minutes? That is the only way you can flush the Webtv cache.

When I was fixing up someones's account on another server, I found that I couldn't beam my files into it. For example, the beamer itself:

http://eclecticdjs.com/mike/temp/08/04/beamer.txt

I copied & pasted it first but when I tried beaming some file managers, I got the generic error msg so I tried beaming http://eclecticdjs.com/mike/temp/08/04/beamer.txt and it wouldn't beam either. I don't know perl so I haven't a clue where to start with that but a modified (password protected multi mover) version of the banned file mover DOES move the files that the beamer will not.
