What 'ya got there??

In case you haven't heard we are going to be moving the accounts on Capricorn over to a new box. This new Capricorn will not be as stout as the old Capricorn was. I've kept an eye on loads, ram usage etc and frankly the current Capricorn is way too much overkill. So it's a downgrade of sorts. But the new box won't be a slouch either. I wouldn't do that to ya'll. The new Capricorn will be an Intel based quad core 2.4 Ghz Q6600 single chip CPU with 2 x 4 meg cache and 4 gigs of ram. Hard drives will be three 250 gig drives configured in a Raid 1 array. In addition to the daily, weekly, and monthly backups we do there will also be a separate "NAS" (Network Attached Storage) backup to a different server in a different datacenter. We will be using the current Capricorn provider so the move will be painless. There won't be any of the DNS issues we had with the first move as we will be using the same block of IP numbers. All of the other issues we had getting Capricorn tweaked for use with Webtv users won't happen either as all of our config files and security settings will be transfered over to the new box.
The reason for this move is Domania. I'm going to be transferring the Domania users on to the new Capricorn as soon as the transfer for the current Amish and PDhomes accounts are complete. This is going to be a quick and dirty move for Domania and I'm sure there will be some problems. But the current Domania server is so bad that this has turned into an emergency situation and I want to get them moved ASAP! We are extremely proud of our uptime for our ZboX members. And now that DAP is a member of the ZboX family I want all of our DAP members to experience the same. Not having to worry about whether your sites are up or if your sigs are going to load is what we are being paid for. And that is what we are going to deliver!
