Just a reminder that the move will start at midnight tonight. I'll update in this thread as things progress. The bad news is that we won't be able to keep mirroring the two servers. So I'm shutting down the Domania members area and filemanager at midnight. It will also be a good idea for everyone to turn their webtv sigs off until the move is complete. As the DNS propagates there could be some outtages. This whole thing will probably take at least 24 hours. I know that's kind of harsh. But once this move is done, ya'll will be on a much better server that will handle your needs. The constant outtages ya'll have been experiencing for all of this time will be a thing of the past.

I have shut down the Domania members area and filemanager. If you have other Domania tools on your Fkeys it really wouldn't be a good idea to use them until I give the all clear.
Files are being transfered now. I'll report more on the progress when I have more information. Here we go folks!

We are about a quater of the way through the file transfer process. It's going even slower than expected. Hang in there.

We've hit a snag and had to pause the upload to the new server. For some reason the upload keeps timing out. No worries though as we can resume the uploads where we left off. As soon as I get it figured out we'll proceed.

Well right now we are working on the domania.us transfer. And that is a BIG transfer. The problem I'm having is the old server. Running the package/move program on it is overloading it. I thought that by shutting down the filemanager that would be enough but it appears I was wrong. So I'm going to have to make a decision soon. That decision will be whether to shut down the old server to all requests (email, webpages, etc.). That will essentially bring it offline for everyone except me and the transfer process.
This is the reason I moved Amish/PDhomes before Domania. They were the test, and it took quite a while to get that move done. Even though Amish/PDhomes were 4 separate servers, Domania has more users just on one server. And it's even more overloaded than Amish/PDhomes was.
So here we are. If anyone wants to give me some feedback on totally shutting down Domania to speed up the move, I'm all ears.

Hi Bert........ If the move can be done in increments, Why not totally shut down ater midnight until early morning. That should inconvienence very few. Good luck on a awesome task........fred (cfw)

Ok things are progessing nicely on the domania.us transfer. I'm not going to be shutting anything down at this point as it's now prime time and we seem to be weathering the storm nicely. Of course that could change and if it does I will let ya'll know about it. The problem now is that I'm going to have to restart the d21c.com transfer from scratch. The old server crashed a couple of times last night during the d21c transfer and we have to start over. But on the plus side d21c is much smaller than domania.us is, so once we get that going it will only take a couple of hours.

Ok the domania.us transfer was successful. I'll be restarting the d21c.com transfer shortly. This might resume from where it left off, but I doubt it. It's not anywhere near as big as domania.us is so this should only take a few hours. On the plus side this will give me a few hours of much needed sleep!

Ok things are looking up. The d21c transfer was successful. I have a few more small accounts to transfer over then that part will be done. Once they are all over to the new server I will need to do some minor configuration changes on the server then it will be time to switch over the DNS. If all goes well I should be able to make the DNS switch tonight!

For my part, if it would go faster to shut everything down. Do it. I think that sounds a little more efficient and would be easier on you. I think the biggest part of the users could be patient enough to just stay of domania while it's moved.
