Having a problem
« on: June 04, 2008, 05:24:33 PM »

At AH when I try to click on the size of a graphiic (between 'rename' and 'delete') nothing happens. It used to give me the coding for the size of the graphic plus have places where I could take it (IM's, giftworks, etc.)

Now nothing happens, in fact the whole page I'm on seems to freeze up. If I click on the 'root' at the top, nada.

I've been doing some work on some of my pages, rearrangeing directories etc. so lots of the images on my pages acquired new URLS and I've been using this W/H quite a bit, comes in very handy.

Any ideas? It's like the link to W3C, one of those things that I use constantly.

Hi Mike,
What I saw was that the color grabber essentially went wonky and started looping connections which in turn froze up the server for a bit. I killed all of those connections and things are back to normal. Not sure why that happened. Until I can look and see what is going on do me a favor and don't use that feature for now. My apologies for the inconvienience, but it's prime time right now and I don't want a repeat of what just happened. I'm looking into the logs to see exactly what went wrong now.

Ahhh I think I've found the problem. Seems that during the downgrade to Apache 1 we lost some Perl modules. The load spike yesterday was due to a user that likes using the ZboX filemanager in their account. Then I noticed your problem as it happened. So on a whim I went into my ZboX filemanager here on Cap and I got a internal server error. Very odd as it was working just fine before the downgrade. The weird thing is though that the Domania filemanager is working just fine.  Go figure. We are reinstalling Perl with all the bells and whistles. This will take about a half hour. I'll let you know when it's complete.

Perl has been reinstalled complete with the missing modules. The ZboX filemanager now works with no errors. So yours should too Michael.

Thanks a lot, Bert! Works great now; at first I thought it was me. You know, those little features really make a difference. I do most of my work at AH now, used to be I did most of my work at domania since it was the first place I was used to besides pagebuilder.

Sometimes I wonder what it is about having a website that can make you crazy. Even if you aren't planning to work on any pages or make changes and the server is serving up your pages, if you can't get in it drives you batty.

Thanks again Bert for the quick fix,

LOL I hear ya Mike. Now that ya'll are on Cap, and finally getting used to good uptime again, it's like folks can't access their site for five minutes and I'm gettin emails and forum posts LOL! Which of course is as it should be. The old servers were so bad and cap is so many or orders of magnitude better. And this should be about the last "tweak" we'll have to do to Cap other than keeping her updated etc. But of course I'll be sitting here tomorrow during prime time keeping an eye on things just to make sure we've solved that load problem. But frankly I think we got it nailed.
