Cpanel is in included with every account at ZboX. It is an extremely powerful portal for controlling a multitude of aspects of your account. You can control anything from email forwarders to MySql databases and much more. The first thing everyone should do is read the Cpanel documentation located here:
http://www.cpanel.net/docs/cp/index.html
This will give you the basics of ALL the functions of your Cpanel.
First and foremost: If you don't understand what a certain function in Cpanel will do, please FIRST read the documentation, or post a question about it in this web forum.
Here are a couple of ways you can avoid problems with your Cpanel:
Frontpage Extensions: Under the "Site Management" section in your Cpanel you will see a link for "Frontpage Extensions". Webtv users should not install them. They are for PC users only and are related to a Microsoft program for the easy construction of web sites. Installation of Frontpage Extensions in a Webtv account will add certain .htaccess files that can cause problems with your Webtv compatible File Manager.
.htaccess: Caution should be used when using .htaccess files. If the coding in the file is incorrect you could wind up locking yourself out of your account. If you are not sure of the .htaccess coding post on our support forum or email me at zbox@zboxhosting.com
Add on Scripts: Under the "Cgi scripts" section of your Cpanel there is a "Add on Scripts" link. If you click on it you will be taken to a page that contains a link to "Fantastico". Fantastico is an easy installer for 19 very powerful PHP based scripts. The word of caution here is that some of these scripts because of their power can take up a very large chunk of your accounts disk space. For instance PHPBB2 can take up to 16 megs of space! It is adviseable to make sure your account has enough disk space before installing ANY of these scripts. If your account goes over your alloted disk space you will NOT be able to add or remove files in your account. To get more information about a specific script, click on the link to that script in Fantastico. When the screen comes up there will be a link to that scripts home page or support forum. You can find out all the information you need about the script there.
