Possible network issues with Capricorn
« on: October 09, 2008, 08:46:51 PM »

I haven't received any emails about any issues yet, but, I'm currently not able to access Cap. I was thinking this was an issue with our ISP, but I'm not able to access Cap's providers website either. Anyone else having issues with Cap??

I just called Cap's provider and yes there is a network issue. They are working on the problem and hope to have everything back up again here shortly.

Should be up much sooner than that. The server is not down, but due to an issue with either a switch or router "we can't get there from here". More info soon.

Thanks, Bert!

I wondered why my new File Manager AND my old one both seemed to have disappeared. I was just coming to the conclusion that the server was ailing.

Thanks, Bert!

Yah this was an odd one in that I couldn't access anything. Seems I was the first to stumble across the issue.

No news yet. But if it's a router or switch it shouldn't take that long to fix.

More news. Apparently Cap's provider is under a very large Denial Of Service attack. What that means is the network is being flooded with so many requests that the internet connections can't keep up with it. They are working on getting the attack filtered out. More info as it progresses. This attack was in no way targeted at Cap. The attack is much bigger than that.

Nope, I beat you to it. I went to the library to use the computer to upload some files and instead I spent a frustrating hour watching pages time out or only partially load.

The attack has been filtered. Things seem to be back to normal now.
