Hi Lila,
In order to use SSI here at ZboX you will need to add the .shtml file extension to all the pages you would like to use SSI in. Ie: mypage.shtml

While we're on the subject of SSI, wassup with DATE_LOCAL?

When I put it on an shtml page it renders UTC time. Are I missing sumthin'?  unsure

http://sandycor.net/xyz.shtml The top one is <!--#echo var="DATE_LOCAL" --> The bottom, as you will likely guess, is DATE_GMT.

A glitch??  smile

Hi Sandy,
Well the reason Date_Local show's GMT is because the server is set to GMT. I'm not too familiar with the SSI codes but if there is one that allows a time offset, for us here in Central time we would offset it -six hours during daylight savings time. Hope that helps.

Well then, I'll just go see if any of the time format configs do the deal. It's not overly important, just a bit weird to see UTC time come up when you think it's going to be local. wub

As ever, thanks Bert; smile

One thing to remember Sandy. Our fellow ZboXians span the entire country and even Canada. <G> There fore no matter what we do the servers time will never ever be "local" for everyone. Plus, I have had several inquiries from folks in Europe and also Australia. Currently we do not provide service to folks outside of the U.S. and Canada. To be frank, I am tantalized by these inquiries and am currently thinking about the possibilities of ZboX going worldwide. Remember ZboX works equally well if not slightly better for PC users. But rest assured. Our Webtv brethren will always be our core. That will never change.

Thanks, Bert...glad you like webtvers...banana I have a javascript time file I use with SSI that is local for me and I am in Central zone. It is plain vanilla yet very accurate. Also have a dhtml actual clock with seconds indicator. I am sure Sandy already has this, but if anyone needs the js codes be glad to share. In all the SSI sites I have studied for wtv the time is as Sandy has in echo var...and will show the server side time rather than our individual time.  You may see the time code here if you would like.

Well, yeah. I knew that, but you know how we in the Eastern Time Zone (the most important time zone in the universe) are used to being mollycoddled....  biggrin

As Lila has said; good to know. specool ; and as Lila has discovered, the workaround is doing an include of a .js script, or .js alone, or......

No sweat. Thanks everyone! Another ZboX success story.

Hey Lila.. I know you are a SSI guruette and I do NOT want to learn SSI the hard way so...

What I want to do is a meditative proceedure with you at a specific time so that you can transfer some of tour SSI knowledge to me 'mentally' so that I don't have to learn it all on my own. Sort of like Zen arobics -- work up a sweat without actually moving. Get it? Huh huh? ;)

banana alas...at 2:01pm be ready to receive a telapathic message. and, you will hear the complete story of how-to learn SSinclude using CCP....  huh If I forget to turn my innerself taught methods on,or my electrical system to send such messages goes bonkers..then your're outta luck...but seek out the best as I do and learn from Paul Ding.  He is one that is astute in SSI...(in his forum.) I realize I know just enough to be dangerous.    banana
