Backups

We do daily, weekly, and monthly backups of all of our member accounts. For Webtv, Msntv, and Msntv2 users that is an extra measure of security. As those platforms have no download options. For PC, and Mac users we also have the Cpanel backup utility. The Cpanel backup utility allows you to easily backup your ZboX hosting account to your PC or Mac. PC and Mac users can get more info as to how to do a Cpanel backup here: http://zboxhosting.com/board/index.php/topic,21.0.html As an extra measure of file security, once per week all weekly backups are automatically transfered to another off site server in a different data center in a different part of the country. These backup solutions do not cost our members one extra penny and are included with all ZboX hosting accounts. Of course we can't promise that we will never lose files. No webhosting company can. But we do offer some of the best backup solutions out there. Especially for Webtv, Msntv, and Msntv2 users. ~;-) Bert

Thanks for the re-awakening Bert. Some time ago I remember you mentioning a CD back-up for webbers. Do you still offer that?

Hi Spi, Sorry but no, that service is no longer offered. It was a good idea but the problem is once a Webtv user get's the disk there is nothing they can do with it. You will need access to a PC in order to actually upload the files to a webhost. And with our multi tiered back up system it's just not needed. PC users can of course easily download backups of their files right in Cpanel. ~;-) Bert

Just go into your Cpanel and in the "Account Management" section click on "Backup". When the screen changes at the top of the page you will see the link "Download Today's Home Backup". Click that link and follow the prompts and you will then download a .tar file of all of your accounts contents except for any mysql databases you might be using. I have no "Account Management" section. But in the Files section there is "Backup "and "Backup Wizard". I didn't see much difference between the two so used "Backup". Says it creates a full backup of everything including your databases and puts it in a zip file you can download. I got email comfirmation that the backup was complete. But where is the zip file I'm supposed to be able to download to my computer? I can see that my Used Space on the disc jumped up quite a bit so the file must be somewhere in my account but I can't find it.

Col, Look in your "home" directory outside of your public_html. It will be there. Right click and "save file as" Once you have downloaded it delete it. ~;-) Bert

7zip is the best file compression program I have found for Windows machines. You can download it here: http://www.7-zip.org/download.html~;-) Bert
